What is the name for previous judicial decisions?

I am having a complete brain lapse and cannot think of the word that refers to decisions made by judges in past cases. For instance, lawyers often use (previous court cases) to win their current case. It's a very common word that you learn in high school government if not earlier, please help, google has failed me and this is driving me nuts!
