What size would it be with ugg shoe sizes?

i would like to get my gf ugg boots for valentines day but i don't want to be obvious and ask her shoe size..i bought her some toms that were 7 1/2 so i was hoping there is a lady out there who has toms and uggs haha..anyways, i just was wondering also if the uggs run smaller or bigger..thanks
