I have a citroen xsara 1.4. y reg....whilst driving?

whilst driving car last night, a symbol came on car dash. of a car with a sqiggley line underneath came on.. and now it wont go off i realise this is something to do with the anti- skid brakes.. what does this mean and why wont the light go off.. also wen i strted engine this symbol made a noise like a bleep sound .. does it need to be taken to garage is this a fault ????? and suggestions plz
